Native America

america, land of the free
born of hope and misery

discovery had brought the first
until they saw what it was worth
escape and greed became the next
guns and numbers
muscles flexed.

native people tried to fight
for what was theirs
for what was right
they had no chance against the wave
they did their best
their hearts were brave

the men that came
put them in a cage
once free people
now enraged.

i’m almost glad I wasn’t there
to see the pain and the despair
as they watched their homelands burn
hoping that the tide would turn

but as time passes
we will see
the time of man
is temporary

and once again the spirit ones
will roam this land of golden sun.
