Elvira Davis Biography

I have retired from teaching for 35 years. I am married and have two grown up offspring living and three grandsons. For 40 years, I have written poetry and for the last four years have branched out into writing; articles, plays, other scripts, shortstories, live theatre reviews, and I am currently working at writing my memoirs.I like writing as I feel much happier with a pencil or a computer in my hands. Otherwise I have to travel too far for anyone to take much notice of what I have to say. Does anyone take anyone seriously these days?)

Pastorale

There is a little bird
in my tree of dreams,
fantastic promises
of love and what it means

I will catch the bird
teach it how to love me.
It's light as fairy floss.
It will not want to flee.

Its foot unloops the snare.
Alas! It flies aaway.
Papa, you taught me wrong.
My love has gone astray.

You told me lies Papa,
I couldn't keep my love.
'In time my boy, love comes to you
when you release your dove.'
