The Person I've Become

I don't like the person I've become since I met you
I used to be so confident, now I'm just sad and blue
I've become shy and reclusive
From all your words and abuses
I hardly ever go out, just stay inside most days
These feelings keep going on even though we have parted ways

Your bullying controlling manner
Have me timid, quiet and afraid
Afraid that every guy I speak to
Will end up just like you
With a charming smile that only hides what I know now to be true

You're a mean, sadistic person, a tyrant in disguise
A grown up man who acted just like a little child
Throwing, stomping, damaging, everything in sight
Using words, your fists and hands, always ready to pick a fight.

You've broken me
Reduced me to this pitiful woman I am
Hating the reflection that I see
Starring in the mirror at me
You've taken all my positive energy away
And left a shadow of the person I used to be

Don't know how to get over these feelings
Even though I've tried
I just keep them bottled up inside me
Hiding from the world
Don't want family and friends to know that
You've reduced me to a scared little girl.

Years have passed since it's over between us,
Yet I can't move on, I'm scared to love, and scared to trust
Scared to believe that this won't happen again
So for now I'll stay single and only have friends
