Eric Thomas Poems

Time runs fast when we are young,
As fast as human eyes can blink.
Turn away and there it goes.
What youth we have will slowly sink.
...

Fear is the encasing that you live in,
Hiding in the refuge of your mind.
Come and take my hand that is within
Hearts that live a lie and where you'll find
...

A seasoned child with a voice to hear,
A voice that echoes through hearts and mind,
Her innocence shattered, but not through fear,
The perpetrators will pay their fine.
...

Liberty is free
For those who take it from me.
Democracy is fair
For those who take my share.
...

You were a friend,
I couldn't ask for more,
Now that we've reached the end,
You walked out of the door.

Aging Heart

Time runs fast when we are young,
As fast as human eyes can blink.
Turn away and there it goes.
What youth we have will slowly sink.

It runs with legs that won't tire
So that your aging heart may sleep.
Close your eyes and let it fall,
The fruits you've reaped are yours to keep.

Does the river dry when you
Have passed the rapids of this ride?
Open your eyes so you may see
The world you're bound to on this tide.
