My Treasure Box

As I look upon the world today,
I see many things great and small.
Yet all are valued in a different way,
And I know I cannot have them all.

But from these things I must choose,
The things that matter most to me,
And keep them always never to lose,
That is why I must select them carefully.

I stand as with a treasure box to fill,
And in it I am going to place,
That which I choose with my own free will,
Because my own life I must face.

I see great wealth, houses, and lands,
Is this what I want may I ask?
These things fade with man's plans,
I must choose that which will last.

Into my box says my will,
Place my heart so valuable to me.
The other space I will fill,
With faith, hope and charity.

In a blanket of truth my box will always be,
And upon it I am going to write:
"These are the things that matter most to me.
Whether in the day or in the night."

I hold my treasure box very carefully,
And say to Almighty God so true,
Take this box and what's left of me,
Dear God, I give it all to you.
