A Ballade Of Awakening

Don't want to get out of bed,
There is no motivation.
Wonder why they always said,
To join a corporation.
One year of work, for a week of vacation.
Trading time for money until I go gray.
Tricked into following dogmatic narration,
And leaving tomorrow for what I desire today.

Week by week, my youth is shed.
The constant stagnation,
Has me scratching my head.
Watching life pass from my work station,
For a taxed income, subject to inflation.
True happiness, I continuously delay.
Faced with daily damnation,
And leaving tomorrow for what I desire today.

Down this path, I have been misled.
Left in constant contemplation
Over lies that were fed.
This American Dream needs ratification.
A focus on love, rather than obligation.
A path that is free of mental decay.
To hell with society's expectation,
And leaving tomorrow for what I desire today.

Upon this self-dictation,
I arise from my lay;
Vowing to end all acceptance of limitation,
And leaving tomorrow for what I desire today.
