I am astonished by our leaders.
They destroy everything like looters.
The people are forgotten and neglected,
As if their voices do not matter.
...
Africa did not deserve what it has become.
Black people lived here with no notion of whiteness,
Believing that black was the only color.
They did not even know that white birds existed.
...
Life is a journey through darkness.
It contains many lessons and challenges,
Where mornings can be difficult.
We do not eat fish every day;
...
We are swords, yet so silent,
Living on this planet.
Like birds that sing every day,
Telling us that the weather is bad.
...
I regret that our land has lost its joy.
People live in misery,
Working without reward.
They receive lies as if they were food,
...
I am Fabrice Bukunguta Funebashiga, born in the Eastern part of DRC; south Kivu province/Idjwi territory/ Bugarula village/kirambira quarter. on 22th November 2006. My father is SABAYESU FUNEBASHIGA, and my mother's name is FURAHA NYABWIRA. I am the second- born- child of four children; two boys and 2 girl. In 2012, I attended Karhanda primary school, then in 2018, I moved to bugarula institute where I studied pedagogy section. In 2024, I got my state diploma which enabled me to move to Bukavu, And do the Department of English and African culture at ISP/Bukavu. I started this career of literature in 2026, after observing what the society was going through. I decided to rise their voices by writing revolutionary poems; trying to show how vices have taken the major place in our society; replacing values today as if one day yellow will be black.)
Lion Leaders
I am astonished by our leaders.
They destroy everything like looters.
The people are forgotten and neglected,
As if their voices do not matter.
The rulers behave as though
They were born to govern forever.
They brush aside the people,
Forgetting that the people elected them.
They pursue their own desires,
While citizens remain excluded from progress.
Information reaches us like a miracle,
While dictatorship becomes their ideology.
They forget the existence of ordinary people.
Authorities act with arrogance,
And citizens are forced into silence.
God, give us new stars,
For darkness has become overwhelming.
They hold on to the people's power,
Imposing whatever they desire.
They forget the beauty of the moon,
As though this land belonged only to them.
They boast because of their education,
Yet disregard the black goats.
Decades pass without change.
They cancel projects that could help the people,
And focus on useless pursuits.
No one can understand a goat's cry
Without sharing its suffering.
The people can no longer endure
This endless deception and madness.
That is why rulers avoid their citizens,
For they no longer know what to say.
They remain silent like the sea,
Offering no action for society.
'The future imposes itself. Don't lie to yourself by saying you're preparing for it because in thinking so you might actually be destroying your future beyond repair'
The degree of injustice has been unacceptable in Africa; suffering acts even injustice because there are people who suffer with moderation yet others are suffering as if they already live in hell'
'Don't love studies than who pays it for you because in doing so you will pray one day the death for the person who pays for you forgetting that if he is not alive you will see studies as your enemy with whom you won't be able to get reconciliation forever'
