She hails from the English -Scottish border country far north of here even as the crow might fly
And she will be twenty four years in Australia in a few months from now on the twenty sixth day of July,
Scottish Annie is a Nature loving person and even by their chirps birds she can identify
And she can name every insect in her garden and every type of ant and bee and butterfly

Little Sean is a great talker though his diction not so good
Still he makes a mighty effort to make himself understood
And his vocabulary keeps improving getting better by the day
And I never find it a problem understanding what he say.

You look beautiful at least I think so
With soft black hair black as a crow
And loving eyes horse chestnut brown
You are the finest dog your side of town.

The muddy waters of Royal Park you grace
And you are a stranger in a foreign place
Your reflection in these waters cannot show
And mud stains on your coat once white as snow.

The frost had left the windows looking gray
And no bird called at the first light of day
And the only sounds in yard at Claraghatlea
Made by cows in byre who bellowed for their hay.

A few decades back you supported our dictator but now of him you've finally set us free
And suppose for that we grudgingly should thank you but now we want you out of our Country
Because of you so many mothers grieving for their children who now lay with the war dead
And because of you too many homes in rubble and because of you by far too much bloodshed.

I found welcome at Moloneys there was welcome there for me
At their house in Kallioota Street not far from Wendouree
I was looked on as an equal felt part of the family
Mary treated me to biscuits bits of cake and cups of tea.

So many well known poets pen their poems to the wealthy as if the slum dwellers and the down trod
Were people who were born to be inferior and would always be further down from God
As if to be poor was to be seen unworthy and never worthy of equality
They ought to have a look around the slum parts and have a close up view of poverty.

Devoted to her husband Sean and their children and honourable in every way
And there is so much to like about in kind hearted Josie Fay
And to the good St Therese for soul sustenance she pray
And she's a moral and good person who makes a new friend every day.

Amongst Australia's fairest parrots in red and white and green and gold
The eastern rosellas so lovely to behold
And though not classified as plentiful or not seen every where
They are not an endangered species and not known to be rare.
