Eulogy To My Father

He died an outstanding death
The greatest achievement of his life
A real glass half full occasion
The perfect end to the night

When the time came round to burying him
My mother came to sing
To laugh
To cheer
To drink
To dance
Because 'no one mourns
For the loss of sin'

Acidic soil now bears his eyes
With trees for limbs and stone for mind
The wood they used to carve his end
Engraved upon 'my only friend'
I wispered please of joy
And remember not ever feeling pain.
