A showpiece of sport many are known to say

Of the men and women from every Land who competed for gold
But I for one felt happy when the big Games did end
For of sports I have grown weary and why should I pretend

In the sandpit field we often watched in the afternoon of sunday

We marvelled at his dexterity how wonderful we cried
But we could never juggle with stones though hard enough we tried.

But it is all about ego and nationalistic pride

Seems a huge waste of money and a terrible shame
At a time when many Russian people are doing it tough
Just to keep inflated Putin's ego this is not good enough

Another Olympic games for the wealthy only doesn't life seem so unfair
In the Athens Olympic Stadium there won't be many there
Who live on a low income or struggle to get by on welfare
And who should win the medals why should I even care?

Of playing mind games with people I've had more than my fill
And even on those who dislike me I do not wish ill
I want to live happy and the past has gone
And leave those who like to harbour old grudges with their grudges live on

So much talk about them and such talk is cheap
