Germanwings Falling

I have always loved flying
I became a pilot so that I could soar
Above the world and its problems
My problems

But I’m sorry
The energy required to keep this bus-with-wings in the sky
Is too great
Metal coffins always in the process of falling
So that only constant forward speed keeps them aloft
They’re not really like birds
As I had once dreamed of being
I do not float on the wind
I do not feel it

I hear you pounding on the door
Desperate for something
Is it life you really want?
No
Your shouting and pleading is just an expression
Of the pain of living
You’re only struggling out of habit

Let me free you
From this pointless torture
You’ll see
When the pain suddenly ends
This is the greatest kindness I could do
For the passengers in my care.
