Our American Sons
OUR AMERICAN SONS
You waited nine months nervously
Just to here their first cry.
Never once letting it cross your mind
that someday they might die.
From infancy through child hood,
You were there for every bump, cut and bruise.
Not realizing that later in life,
Of what you had to lose.
Tears of pride and fear in your eyes the night,
That he came to you saying he wanted to join and fight.
Knowing that killing was wrong,
But God and freedom were right.
You taught them the good in life,
And not to do no harm, but little did you know,
that another father's, innocent son
would end there's with a bomb.
Your last sight of him was when he boarded,
Waving good by, dressed in camo with his bag,
Not knowing that another father would return him to you,
Dressed in mahogony and his nations flag.
Now as you lay him down to rest,
As you had many times before.
He's being craddled in the arms of the Lord,
And you need not worry anymore.
