Damian Carlton Biography

Damian Carlton is a spoken word artist, poet, digital creative who uses digital media as a form of artistic and literary expression. His work centers on the subconscious themes of nature and the healing power of poetry as a way to heal with emotional intelligence. Damian has performed at The Arts and Humanities Virtual Open Mic (US) , Slipform Open Mic Anthology (US) , Scenes and Spoken Word Open Mic, (US) Wirral Poetry Festival (UK) , Inspiration Open Mic (UK) Positive Words Open Mic (UK) , Poetry Break Open Mic (UK) , Round Rock Public Library Poetry in Motion (US) , Artists Unite Open Mic (India) , Red Wheelbarrow Poetry Open Mic (South Africa) , Poetry Aloud Open Mic(UK) , As One Entertainment Open Mic(US) , Poetry Aloud Virtual Open Mic (UK) , Word N Sound Digital Slam(South Africa) the Nuyorican Poetry Café (New York, US) and the London Poetry Challenge(UK) Damian's work has been nominated for the Emily Dickinson International Winter Poetry Contest Prize for which his work was among the top fifty poems selected for an anthology compilation entitled ‘Speaking with Emily Dickinson'.In September 2020, he was honoured as a World Literacy Foundation Ambassador in recognition of his efforts to raise awareness over low child literacy rates in Colombia and was selected as a Theirworld Global Youth Ambassador in 2021. He is also the founder of the foundation Social AssistanceWelfare which he started with the aim of undertaking collaborative partnerships to provide sanitary and medical assistance to children in underdeveloped countries in need with other organizations and has so far provided medical supplies for over 10000 children. His work has been featured in compilations and publications such as the Emily Dickinson Wingless Dreamer anthology, Words of Power anthology, Poetry Potion, Poemhunter and Hip Hop Magazine London.Damian has also authored a poetry collection (My Forty Five Truths of Being) and is in the process of writing a chapbook titled Poetry: A Prose Chapbook of Performance. He has also exhibited art at the Nairobi Manjano Art Exhibition and was nominated for the Global Art Awards and received a certificate of recognition for being nominated for the Luxembourg Art Prize.He has also held residencies at the St Petersburg(Russia) He is also a filmmaker with credits in Spiderman: Monsters of Manhattan, Sweet Wort, VOIDKUU, and was an associate film producer on CHAINED and an executive producer on UNTIL THE SUN COMES UP(Nightpiece film festival, International Art Film Festival London) which was a finalist at the British Short Film Awards 2021.He has also contributed to the production of the 5th Abandoned Pools album. He is a Nairobi Writing Academy alumnus, an LA Writers Lab Alumnus, an Arts+ Literature Laboratory Community Workshop alumnus, a member of the Baraza Media Lab, a member of the Princeton Arts Council(between 2020 and 2021) and a scholar at the Association of African American Museums (between 2020 and 2021) .)

Summer, autumn, spring, winter
It all comes to a heed, blossoms bloom so & eventually wither
Oh how I wonder what ‘tis to experience all the four seasons at the four seasons
The earthly orbit set in motion by the Creator with no explicable reason
No difference between the seasons, like the semblance between love or hate,
