A Threnody To My Dad

TIme heals all wonds, but I don't want to be healed
I feel so empty but I don't want to be filled
Its time to move on but I don't want to proceed

You gifted me a reason to live but what's life when you're not in it?
You were my King now, I cease to be a Prince
Like an eagle, you had me under your wings

You left and that wasn't right but what can I say when you took my might?

Now I'm in the buff and I feel no shame, I'm unclad and I feel so pale

Three seconds to say 'I Love you is all I ask, this time I'll make sure it's without a mask
Your smile didn't warm my heart, it set it on fire, how do I move on, roll like a tyre?

I would have gladly gone in your place but the good Lord doesn't ask, he takes and at times, I feel he has left me at the stake.

That's when I hear your voice calling deep within so cool, so calm, saying

'son live for God and you'll really never die'

'It's hard, Dad, I miss your hand'

'Relax son, he'll raise stones to help you, remember he gave flesh to then bones? '

I smile, like I just got cured of pile

Time heals all wounds, so when it ticks, all I do is talk saying;

'O death, where is your sting? '
'O death, where is your victory? '
