Hana Akira Poems

I smile a lot,

The Me

I smile a lot,
with my well practiced smile
that makes them think that I'm happy.
I laugh hard,
a laugh that makes them believe
that everything is alright.
I don't show my anger,
even though I'm boiling up inside.
I always wear this mask of happiness
because I don't want them to ask me why I'm sad.
It's has always been easier to pretend that I'm alright
than to tell them the reason why I'm slowly dying inside.
