My Friend Jude

I have to tell you about my friend Jude
She really is one of a few
Who listens and advises when the time is right
Who I admire and love - our friendship is tight.
Let me tell you the background of Jude and me
We met 20 years ago - I remember it well you see
In Romania we were working I can tell,
Looking after children going through hell.
Jude was there for six months - me just three
To work alongside so many grateful children
Was a total joy - you see.
There was Daniela and Christian to name only two
Two children who taught us so much it is true.
Never in a million years did I think I would find
My dearest friend one could ever wish for - mind
Whilst working in conditions so poor.
But Judith was there - full of laughter and fun
We clicked and there was my friend - number one.
We kept in touch ever since ‘93
And never looked back - she is very dear to me.
We have been through so much in our friendship and lives
Boyfriends, holidays, work troubles and now we are wives!
Two gorgeous children Jude was blessed with
Without a doubt the greatest Mother Judith is.
Tragically in '06 her Daddy passed away
How devastating for her-but what can I say?
I'm sorry? I'm here? He was such a great man
No words can do it justice - I was such a great fan.
I'll remember the day I got the news
The passing of a much loved Gordon Hughes.
I cried, I cried - he wasn't even mine.
But not even then did Judith whine.
She just ‘got on with it' but everyone grieves
In different ways - but with heavy heart I heave,
Times have moved on but will never we forget
Judiths Daddy - and we will never let
His soul and spirit in heaven above
In rain and showers he is sending his love.
Jude and I live too far away
Her in Wales and Kent I stay
We speak on the ‘phone but it's not enough
I miss her dearly and always send love.
Everyone needs a Jude friend and I'm honoured to say
I have one! I have her! I think of her every day.
A friend for life - her friendship I value in every single way.
So Jude this is for you - and you alone
To say thank you for always being at the end of a ‘phone
Through good times and bad I can always depend
You always being there to the end
I hope you know with all my heart
I'll always be with you from finish to start
You never moan - you're as private as can be
But please remember - you can tell me
Anything in the world and I'd never judge
And if it's about me I won't hold a grudge!
Words cannot express what you mean to me
Your friendship I value I hope you can see.
So thank you for nearly 20 years of ‘you'
I love you so much - I really do
To be able to call you my friend so dear
I am the luckiest person that I don't fear
You are wonderful, funny, caring and kind
How lucky I was - you are a very rare find.
