The Cowboy Lives On

'The cowboy's a dying breed' they say
Who then will run cattle and feed hay?
Who will go eight seconds upon those bulls?
Cowboys alone have such restless souls
That soul will live on in just a few
With each cowboy's passing comes one new
To learn the ropes, to ride the great plains
Breaking colts, gripping tight to the reins
Running cattle to watering holes
They stampede with eyes like burning coals
But that young cowboy keeps the herd tame
Rounding them up, tending to the lame
No, the cowboy is far from dying
He may fall off, but he'll keep trying
You can't simply kill what lives within
You cannot stop him, he'll ride again
