Jamie Bassett,17 years old, is currently a student at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, NJ and will be attending Rider University in Fall 2012. Her hobbies consist of racing cars, sampling the finest Nutella. Facebook stalking, and play Temple Run for hours on end. Her favorite baseball team is the Yankees with her favorite football team being the 49ers, but only when they're winning. She enjoys satirical television such as Family Guy and American Dad. Her lifetime goals are to cure procrastination, to lock up all pedophiles, and to own a brown cow named “Chocolate Milk”.)

Get Well Soon

Holders of grudges release their tight grips.
Shaking hands mend broken relationships.
The hopeless become faithful.
The elders assume their positions.
A mother tries bargaining with a higher power.
Her husband hurls his son's only recovered possession across the room.
Their daughter forces the "Get Well" balloon into the bathroom.
Hands unite around a body of which was once more than just flesh and bones.
He still gasps for air but he is not the boy they knew the day before.
The faithful become hopeless.
As the dreaded noise sounds his sister locks eyes with the ground.
Her father breaks his Soprano persona and lets his emotions flow.
His wife sobs.
Some shudder their "goodbyes",
Others refuse and end with a "see you later".
His sister destroys the "Get Well" balloon.
They won't be needing it.
