Overcoming

I lie here confined in my own mind.
The thoughts shoot through my
head like shooting stars slicing
through the dark abyss, here one
moment but gone the next. Images
flashing fast as the slides for a
matinée. Anger. Sadness.
Depression. Emotions setting in
that no one yearns for. How must
one escape from this internal battle
of spirit? 'To be or not to be, ' that
is not the question; perhaps 'to do'
is more suitable. Do the guilty
pleasure. Dance as if you are a
child clenched to the shirt of your
grandfather. Sing as if the world is
your personal shower. Work as if
your life depended on it. Play like
you are on recess,10 years only for
one last time. And overcome.
Happiness. Joy. Elation. The
emotions everyone looks for in the
war we shall call life.
