Can I wake up and know it’s just a dream;
That sadness and heartache
Is not meant for this who is called me.
...
You’re my mum, I am proud to say
Changed my diapers, taught me how to play
Showed me things I’d see no other way
Trees, insects, snakes and flowers too
...
I am a nurse with a love for children and people and a love for life. The love for poetry is something I got from my Mum when I was a teenager.)
Today Can I Not Be Not Brave And Strong
Can I wake up and know it’s just a dream;
That sadness and heartache
Is not meant for this who is called me.
Today do I need to put a smile on my face
And pretend all is good and all is right?
Not say to one and all everything is fine
That this day is nice and bright.
Can I take this cold enfolding my heart
Replace it with warmth covered in laughs?
Do what I need to say
Not break so many hearts?
Can I lie in your arms
And my tears be my charm?
Will the touch of your hand
Catch me now as I fall?
