Jennifer Hanners Poems

It’s not the night that I fear…just a night without you.
I’m afraid of the dark with no light coming through.

1st verse:
...

First verse:
These steps I take are not in vain. There is a purpose to this walk…to my pain.
This road I travel is uncertain but I will not change my path…just ‘cause I’m afraid.
...

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Who is she, looking back?
Do you see a princess, do you see a star? Do you point out everything you lack?
Let me tell you what I see and let me show you who is she and let me speak because I know who you are…
...

They say there will come a moment when everything’s right…stars are aligned.
I felt it happen. The moment we met.
They say, “You’ve got to have strength…you’ve got to have faith…and time heals all wounds, ” and I try so hard not to forget.
...

I AM SCARED TO MOVE…
I CAN’T CATCH MY BREATH.
I TREMBLE INSIDE WITH THE THOUGHT OF MY NEXT STEP.
...

This girl is crazy and mixed up.
This girl is not who you would want.
This girl is not who you think of
When you think of God.
...

God I’ve been hit and you took your best shot. Doesn’t hurt ‘cause it happens over and over.
I’ve been asleep and unable to move. It’s like I’ve been drunk and I’m finally sober.

Standing [song Lyrics]; Copyrighted - Jennifer Hanners

It’s not the night that I fear…just a night without you.
I’m afraid of the dark with no light coming through.

1st verse:
I should’ve died; I should’ve lost my life…long ago.
Been paralyzed, unfeeling, and breathing slow.
But there’s a reason now I feel the wind.
And it makes me, makes, makes me want to live again.

Chorus:
And the reason I’m alive, and the reason I can breathe, and the reason I am me is standing.
And the reason I can move and the reason I can feel and the reason I am real is standing…
Here.

2nd verse:
Wasted days and wasted years and wasted love, I cry for me.
Minutes gone and hours gone and I want them back so I can be
more than just a person who is wasted.
I wanna little bit of this life that I just tasted.

Chorus:
And the reason I’m alive, and the reason I can breathe, and the reason I am me is standing.
And the reason I can move and the reason I can feel and the reason I am real is standing…
Here.

Bridge:
I am on the edge, covered in death. Wake me up, give me breath.
Shake me, shake me from the inside…open, open up this grave where I reside.

‘cause you’re the reason, you’re the reason, you’re the reason, you’re the reason…

Chorus:
And the reason I’m alive, and the reason I can breathe, and the reason I am me is standing.
And the reason I can move and the reason I can feel and the reason I am real is standing…

here…it’s not the night that I fear, just a night without you.
