In My Fathers Eyes

I learned a lot from my Father’s eyes.
They told the tales of days gone by.
They were filled with stories
That made everyone laugh.
About Nan and Dan and ole Johnny’s cats.
Stories about Diaza and Jimala
Teasing the hell out of ole Tom Hall
There was always a story in my Father’s eyes
He’d have the whole family laughing
Till we almost cried
His eyes had a twinkle a beacon of light.
You could always tell what you were in for
A story or a fight.
My Father’s eyes held the answers
To who he really was.
Just a man with great stories
