I Wish You Had Known

It's been four whole years
Since I saw your face
Yet somehow I just can't
Forget those days

I wasn't ready
To be in your dream
But I thought you'd stay round
And wait for me

I knew how I felt
But it frightened me
I needed some space
And you couldn't see

I said I used you
I told you to go
But I did not want to
Just let you go

I said all those things to cover up
I felt so afraid of the chance
I just needed time to let go of before
I thought you'd understand

From the moment you told me
About your new one
My world has been dark
And my smile has gone.
