Nine high schoolers walked to school
The disgust of the people pounding down on their shoulders
Proud of their rights
Proud of their freedoms
They continued to make a difference
People threw rocks and sticks
But the looks they gave felt like bricks
but on to high school they went
They dealt with the rocks
They dealt with the sticks
And yes, they even dealt with the looks like bricks
But it made a difference for years to come
The Little Rock Nine are known by everyone
For their courage
Their spirit
And their bravery
From the brutality of segregation
To the kindness of the free country
