All’s Quiet On Ullswater
The shore road waits, silently trailing mist
Where heaven and earth in a breath exist.
The path around the hidden away bays
That leads my memory to Silver Point
Where my eyes would rest on the crag and gaze.
I heard Wainwright’s words opening my dreams
As I sat there with you to plan the climb
Over flasks of coffee and sweet custard creams
And we shared the world in those days sublime.
From Deepdale Bridge, where you and I first kissed,
So long ago it’s lost in distant haze
To where the Pikes fall to another time
Now memories are the pivotal joint
