Jocelyn Freeman Biography

Jocelyn Freeman has been writing poetry since she was a child but faced with the reality of earning a quid, has spent much of her working life employed as a journalist and teacher, writing for publications both nationally and internationally, such as The Sydney Morning Herald and the Praque Post, Czech Republic, as well as teaching in Australian secondary schools. Jocelyn has now been published for several years in Charles Sturt University’s Booranga Writer Centre’s annual anthology,4W. Jocelyn is due to have her first book of poems titled: Dirt Love Salt, released in the first half of 2011.)

Stranded In Junee

there’s an edge there
i can feel it
i can run my fingers along the contours of your conversation
and stumble with the jagged sighs
your soprano dreams
are flowing down the gully,
spilling like a waterfall on stone ground.
in-between the humdrum routine
baby eyes stare out
and you, gashed by a relentless lover
who left you floundering with hillbillies...

then jumped the midnight train
