As the sun throws itself over mountains,
and paints its reflection in water and glass,
I am illuminated but far from enlightened,
for my love is as infinite as the golden rays that fall from the heavens,
but does not warm, nor caress your illusive face.
Slipping and reaching farther and farther stretching beyond the stars,
your heartbeat echoes through the frostbitten darkness of space…of time.

In this journey through mud and muck,
I only encounter false prophets among hollow statues,
while black blood falls from tear ducts amiss,
my strong arms and calloused hands wither without your supple skin.
The rocks crumble beneath me, marking the tempo for my morose theme.
My body weakens without the feminine mystery of your soul to compliment mine.
As my hair fades grey, I am reminded of the younger and stronger version of myself,
only to realize now that the journey is taking its toll.

I grow weak…

So I beg now, as the pauper begs in the streets…please find me.
Rekindle my strength and allow me to cut through the mud and the stone,
for I need you to be my beacon and lead me home.
Put the wind against my back and allow your petals to brush against my skin,
cutting through the heavy mist and clearing the path so that my internal fire
can rage hot once again.

My strong clenched hand fights and forges so that one day it can finally relax,
and with gentle strength, caress your frail silk with my finger tips.
I can only dream of your kiss…inhaling your candied soul I taste your lightning.
It rushes past my tongue and immediately fills my chest with your warm nectar.
I have yet to see your eyes, but when you finally lay beneath me,
and I hold you in my tired arms, the new journey begins.
The blinding fire we create shatters the statues, and dissolves the shadows…
for I am now whole, because you are finally mine.
