When I tried to make sense of my surroundings

As The Evening Drew To A Close
When I tried to make sense of my surroundings
Fruit flies dashed at me out of the blue.
A leopard was steadily climbing down a wall
And someone was oiling her mane
As if she had all the time in the world.
A fire had been lit right next to me
But the smoke billowed elsewhere.
Beyond the smoke was a tea shop
Where the leopard had just been
Split among the customers.
