My Numbness

Have I forgotten how to feel?
Or have I just gone numb?
A blank blackness inside
Slowly overcome

The cobwebs in my heart
The floorboards of my soul
A dull pain in my chest
that nobody but me knows

I use to feel something
Happiness and pain
Warmness and sorrow
but now it’s all the same

Rejection can only
break a heart so many times
before it grows accustom to
the dents and fracture lines

I am so numb my friend
I am unsure if I will survive
Not sure if it is the winter snow
Or a thawing ice from inside

But please do not fear
I will be alright
because feeling nothing
is better than
hurting all the time
