Kayla Cooper Biography

I've had a thing for writing since i was in the third grade. I knew I was gifted. Not a whole lot of people believe this is my own work. These people base their opinion purely on the fact that I am only 16. But this is what I do, and I try my best to do it well. My Grandpa Jack told me that adversities make you a stronger person. I say, adversities give you something to write about. Because of all the loss and adversity in my life, I have matured beyond my years, and have been able to practice what I do best in this world: poetry.)

I Have Found My Soulmate

You opened my eyes so that I could see myself.
I was a dusty old doll until you took me down from the shelf.
Through other’s eyes, I was as pretty as could be
But you, my love, loved me for me.

We are Romeo and Juliet; we fell in love so swift, so naturally.
You are my man, the one from the Turkish legend, sitting by the sea.
For you, my sweetheart, I would lay down my very life.
I would give you every breath I had if it meant ending all your strife.

Finally I can write again! You have cleared my head.
Once more, I can truly laugh! This is destiny, as you said!
You’ve ruined me for all other men because I’ll never want another.
You are my friend, my soul mate, my everything, and my lifelong lover.
