The Mother And The Child

the sun was blazing with heat
i couldnt stand on my feet
i looked out of my window
and stared across the streets

standing at the corner
was a child with no mother
turning to look at the other side
was a mother who longed to have a true child
and looking in the path between them
was a dark and cruel world
which blinded them from the beauty of nature

helpless, painful and hurting cries
echoed in my ears from the heartbeat of the mother and the child
as my heart began to develop some fears

the mother! the child!
oh! how they long to have a life
how they long to see the sun smile at them
how they long to see the heavens open up for them
they sleep in hunger
and shiver in the cold of the night
with their blind life, all they see is a dark world around them
they search for a meal
in the place where it can never be found
for there is no one to feed them

the mother! the child!
oh! how do i help them
what is it that they so need
my heart desires to feed

there is a picture in my mind
it just seems all so mild
i got to do something to help the child
oh yes, and the motherwhat is it that they so need

all they need is
to be led out of the road to hell
led out of the life of pain and misery
and led into the pathway of heaven
the pathway of sorrow
the pathway of eternal life
witness, save a soul
be wise
and make Jesus smile
