“Grandpa that looks silly”
She said looking at my wall
A baseball cap was hanging there
With a dozen flags in all
...
Sleep now, sleep long,
Close your weary eyes.
Put away the sound of death,
Ignore the woeful cries
...
When I stop and look
At the man I’ve become.
My accomplishments meager
In the minds of some.

A Day Softly Creeping
A day
Softly creeping
Stretching, yawning
People sleeping
Unaware their
Lives will change
Twisted metal
Lives rearranged
Burning, smoking,
Clouds of dust
Thousands choking
Betrayal of trust
People falling,
Dying, crushed
A slow, natural death
Becomes suddenly rushed
At the end,
Just twisted steel
Tons of concrete
Life becomes surreal
Now a time
Of crying, weeping
As we start
A day softly creeping
