Kimber Lee Iacona Poems

Late at night when most people are sleeping,
I lie awake..watching the shadows in my room move across the ceiling
As if they were children playing outside, letting the hours tick by
Continuously staring into space, in search of a place to rekindle my last,
...

Everytime I close my eyes
it's like a dark paradise
It's there, waiting for me to be at ease
I sit for hours begging please, just make this madness go away
...

Your words were like setting flames to fire
Waiting for the right moment and then you go and
completely break down
Your words were like a kiss from the long-lost
...

A Better Place

The atmosphere disintegrates
right before me
...

Pictures fade from the light as I finally start to close my eyes
All the scars from the rain are finally starting to show through
Never a moment too soon, not a moment too late
I find myself lost in all of the confusion that shields me from the outside world
...

Late At Night:

Late at night when most people are sleeping,
I lie awake..watching the shadows in my room move across the ceiling
As if they were children playing outside, letting the hours tick by
Continuously staring into space, in search of a place to rekindle my last,
most precious thoughts.

Late at night, I tend to become restless
There's something still not there to satisfy me the most
It's as if a ghost has waltz into the room
unnoticed, unseen by me
Gliding across the floor, feet never touched the ground
If anything, her hair hangs down
Her pale face shines bright in the moonlight,
refracting from my window sill.

Late at night I listen to all the different sounds, envisioning
where they are all coming from
The cadence of notes spilling from a piano two doors down
Keeping a steady beat, while the wind starts to pick up
warning me there's a storm approaching.

Late at night I lay in bed, thinking about various things
Most times, I can't keep track of everything
Yet again, I end up counting random things I spot around my room
At some point, I will look at my window and glance at the moon.

Whether it's a day or night, you'll always
know that I'll be up late at night.
