The Maiden And The Swan

Oh, Maiden, over there— can you see it?
Glides the swan across the shimmering waters,
her graceful form is bewitching.
Fragile as a blessed rose, with petals of white linen.
See how she dances, her feathers of silk so pure,
see how the sun casts a glimmer on her allure.
A painting of white lilies as her wings embrace her,
a glimmering shiver as the sun alights her.
Oh, maiden do not turn away— can you not see it?
Can your misted eyes not allow you to believe it?

But she hangs her head with a sigh, replies the maiden.
And her eyes glimmer just like the solemn waves.
Can you not hear the lake murmuring words of sorrow
as she drifts further and further away?
What a sad sight to bear witness to, what a fate of cruel disdain!
Glides the swan across the shimmering waters…
Glides a swan so full of pain.
