Laurie Bremel Poems

Sleeping, I dream,
and in my dreams
you are there,
Standing before me,
...

I am here,
at the edge of the world,
the smoky, misty place of indecision.
You, out there somewhere,
...

Dream Photos

Sleeping, I dream,
and in my dreams
you are there,
Standing before me,
whole and strong,
not the way you were at the end,
but the way you were in the years before.

Your hand is on your knee,
eyes closed,
head thrown back in laughter.

It is a palpable joy,
that leaps out from the photograph,
and even now, when you are gone,
and I am here alone,
I feel the contagiousness of your humour.

You could always make me laugh,
so quick to make a quirky joke,
or find the funny side of things,
your Gary Larson sense of fun
falling from your lips with ease.

There is another photo, a more serious shot.
You are looking out at the camera,
a pensive look upon your face,
your eyes shadowed, and far away.
I wonder what you were thinking then,
I will never know.

The album of my dreams is full of photos of you,
sleeping, smiling, working on your car,
and I page through them,
in my sleep,
dreaming of you.
