I Hope You Are Proud, Dad

To my Dad, wherever it is you may be.

Just a bundle of joy was I when you were taken from us.
So young, so unaware. I know you were angry but be happy knowing that your memory is held high by all that you left behind.
Mum has looked after me well – and I’ll do my best to make sure she never feels alone.

I often wonder what you’re thinking, Dad, as you look down on me now – your young lady, your baby.

I really hope you are proud, Dad.

I know we never had a proper chance to meet – no memories I have of your embrace.
I often envy others who have their Fathers love and put it to waste.

I find comfort hoping you are watching over me, looking after me.
Please, guide me in the right direction and wrap your arms around me when it gets too much.

I hope we will meet one day so I can finally see your face.
I have thought about it so many times as this is all I have, longing.

So Dad, just to say, I Love You and miss you, wherever it is you may be and that, I really hope you are proud of me xx
