There was a time
Some twenty years ago
I found a love
So strong
Or was it
All illusion
A story told by me
For me
How would you know
What was supposed to happen
Unless you made it with me
And you couldn’t be
It was mine
Not yours
So it’s me
Not you
Looking back
I could fast destroy
Chip away and shatter
Millions of memories
Of what was
But what now?
Concoct myself a story
Relive all past events
How could i have loved
The person I see now
I could paint you black
And hate you
Bitter to the end
I can’t do that
My love my friend
My path was shared with you
Too many years
of laughing
of huffing about
and fighting
of making up
and going out
galavanting
Learning so much
Feeling in touch
You from me
And me from you
I can’t hate you now
I won’t let me
Paint you bad
And wipe you out
I hurt and hurt

You broke my heart
But that will pass
I understand
This is the way it should be
