Endles Nights

</>You’ve learned to sleep with your eyes open,
because not everything is as it seems.
You’d rather have the endless nights,
than have thought provoking dreams.

Your mind is always restless,
and your eyes are empty too.
The lies seem to roll faster,
than the very easy truth.

You'll never go to sleep,
you always seem to say,
for the night will last forever,
and the guilt is here to stay.

And then the ghosts will come for you,
before you start to wake.
They’ll worm their way into your heart,
as devious as a snake.

Soon, you’ll start to quiver
from the demons from within.
Your grief will surely show itself,
as it’s etched across your skin.

They’re at battle with your soul,
and you’re at battle with theirs,
but it seems like it’s quite too much
for your broken body to bear.

You’ll never get rid of them.
because they’re stubborn as you see,
their venom always seems to cause
a simple casualty.
