Louie Richards Poems

When I put your name in my phone calendar,
I set it to repeat every year,
And now I can barely remember your face.
You were once important enough to me,

Phone Calendar Birthdays

When I put your name in my phone calendar,
I set it to repeat every year,
And now I can barely remember your face.
You were once important enough to me,
For me to promise you every year,
But it's three years later now,
I guess things change.

And I know it's mostly my fault,
I should have reached out more,
I swore to you as much.
And I do still text you on your birthday,
Which is more than you do for me,
But it's three years later now,
I guess things change.

It's kind of funny when I see your name,
Bitterly funny;
I can barely remember your face.
And now we're nearly strangers again,
I've been washed away in the rain,
It's three years later now,
I guess things change.

You're not alone in your abandonment,
I don't know how many times I've ran way.
I look at the people in your place,
I don't want them to become estranged,
But it will be three years later soon,
Some things don't change.
