There Was Never A Chance

There was never a chance
I knew from the start
That the moment I saw you
I wanted your heart

The pain inflicted on you
Was right there for me to see
But I bet nobody saw it
Nobody but me

So I smiled and laughed when you pretended not to care
And I let you think I didn't know you
It was so hard to stay away
But it's what I had to do

Because you weren't a free man
She had you hooked like a fish
And I could where the poison was
It had to be her kiss

So I waited and waited and I tried to stay away
But I found you in your friend
And I realized how wrong that was
And I had to let I end

And then luckily you saw me
And you asked around
And three days later
On my phone screen it's your name that I found
And now we've been together a year
And you realize what a fool you were
For ever thinking your heart
Was ever to be with her

And you've got a ring
That goes on my left hand
So I've got you for forever
At least as long as I can

So there was never a chance
