Living There

I want to see old people
With crow's feet under their eyes
Entire nests of a lifetime's experience
Humbly wise

I want to see a young singer
Her eyes so full of life
In her hand a clementine
Her smile the brightest white

I see the hard-skinned working man
With calluses on his heels
Never given a moment's respite
But he takes life as he feels

I close my eyes and see
Young lovers in embrace
Their hearts entwined together
Bound fast by silver lace

I want to see a child there
Her parents love her keenly
They race with her, hands connected
Through the green
