If Only.

If only you had whisked me away,
Like you told me,
I wouldn't be here now.
If only you had not broken a heart,
But only mended,
I wouldn't be here now.
If only you were perfect,
I wouldn't have loved you.
If only I hadn't met you,
I would have loved another.
If only you were ambitious,
I wouldn't be with the one I am with now.

You did break a heart.
You didn't mend tears or scars,
You left me there in the cold.
Left me for better.

Thank God you did.
It was the best worst thing you have ever done.
I can only thank my lucky stars that you are gone.
