His dad always told him
“son, cowboys don’t cry”.
So when she packed her clothes
He fought back the tears in his eyes.

There's a hundred years of history
And even more before that
All the memories gathered in his thinkin'
Beneath that ol’ cowboy hat.

It was my first real rodeo
At a little county fair.

Marc Thompson Biography

What's Cowboy poetry? You haven??t heard of it? Keep reading. It has its own brand of charm, humor, and love. If you like Country Music or Southern Rock, enjoy watching rodeoâ??s and have wondered, â??What WAS he thinking, â? as you watched that bull twist under the â??fearlessâ? cowboy, toss him off, and stomp him into the ground, or if you just enjoyed folk tales as a kid, youâ??ll enjoy cowboy poetry. This is a tradition that has been transferred to the page as itâ??s grown from its roots. Cowboys did have time to think and reflect as they were â??out ridinâ?? herdâ?. Most were illiterate, but they knew how to speak and they were inspired by the work they did and the sights they saw. Inspiration requires no formal education. Rhythm and rhyme are great memorization tools and guess what? Cowboy poetry did for the cowboys what nursery rhymes have done for millions of children. After rollinâ?? their rhythmic thoughts around in their minds and perhaps sharing their words with the wind, they would try them out and share them with their buddies around the fire at night. I cannot provide the campfire, but you are most welcome to get comfy and enjoy the inspiration of this cowboyâ??s poetry and tales. Thanks and I hope y'all enjoy my writes..)

She left that cowboy blue.

So now what is he gonna’ do
now that she's gone?
Deep inside
that cowboy’s
crying out for her.
But he knows she's gone
So he rides on.

When he looks in the mirror,
the only thing he sees
is the day she left
A cowboy blue…
