About the Author
Maria J. Andrade is a psycho-spiritual counselor and poet, born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and raised in New York City. For the last thirty years she has been diving into the underworld of dreams, visions and artistic imagination. The poems from her recent book, Singing My Self Home, have appeared in the webzine, “Snakeskin, ” in the poetry archives, 'Poets Against the War' and in the award winning San Jose newspaper, “La Oferta Review.”
She has written a science fiction novelette, several poetry and story books for children and a book to help individuals succeed in what she calls, “the finest of all arts, ” the art of relating. Now available in Spanish.
Maria lives in California where she shares a private practice with her husband. She includes poetry and art as a form of therapy.

with words and music in my head.
Outside, hundreds of birds compete with me
and the air purifier humming in my room.

The girl replied, 'It is mandrake.'
And a voice added, 'Yes, it is mandrake and
it grows by the light of the moon.'
