Maria J. Andrade Poems

I wake,
with words and music in my head.
Outside, hundreds of birds compete with me
and the air purifier humming in my room.
...

I do not fault you.
If I have forgiven myself,
why not you?
Who can see the depths of a life,
...

You,
the pulsating blood,
the gasp in the breath,
the dizziness in the brain,
...

The mother asked, ' What is it that you eat? '
The girl replied, 'It is mandrake.'
And a voice added, 'Yes, it is mandrake and
it grows by the light of the moon.'
...

La madre preguntó, “¿Qué comes? ”
La hija contestó, “Mandrágora.”
Una voz agregó, ‘Si. Es mandrágora,
y crece a la luz de la luna.’

When I am dead
and in another land,
will I forget how beautiful
the sun went down,
...

It's Spring,
and love affairs are everywhere.

In lower chambers,
...

I see a world in which Source
flows through us in its fullness,
and there is no separation
between you and me,
...

The night's silence moves gracefully
among trees,
which sway in unison lovingly,
as the night passes.
...

Blessed waters of the deep,
my first home where I did sleep,
within the darkness of my mother's womb.
...

A man and a woman sit on separate rocks,
while the sea embraces and retreats,
from the sand beneath them.
...

The river tells me
I need less now.
Its voice speaks to me.
...

Once upon a starless vigil,
a wanderer came to me,
who walked in darkness
down the path,
...

The Best Poem Of Maria J. Andrade

I Wake

I wake,
with words and music in my head.
Outside, hundreds of birds compete with me
and the air purifier humming in my room.
The poem asks, what do you know for sure?
The more I age, the stronger is the voice of youth.
What will endure?
What is the measure of a life?
What secret longing brought me here?
And all the while, the daily river of activity,
rushes by,
from breath to breath, I walk,
between the turbulent and the flowing streams.
And from a corner of lost worlds your voice replies,
“the ten thousand things
rise and fall without cease,
creating, yet not possessing,
working, yet not taking credit.
The work is done and then forgotten,
therefore, it lasts forever.”
