Dirty Old Shirt

A lonely, shallow box
Empty, fluttering with pain
Yet its all that mattered
For the boy who was plain

He lived in a tree
High and almighty
He sat with crossed legs
And loved his soul lightly

A sinful, diverse gaze
Fearless, chanting accost
Yet its all that mattered
For the girl who was lost

She laughed at night
Loud and clear
She closed the door
For those quite near

A highway stream
Both turn to go
Yet bump into each other
For their eyes are aimed low

The bruises, the cuts
Ashamed to hurt
Yet all that once was
Is now a dirty old shirt

Who tamed their love?
Who broke their trust?
Who stole their passion?
Who trapped their lust...

'No longer in darkness
Its not worth the cost'
Said he to her
With both fingers crossed
