The Dragon

The dragon, fabled creature, of majesty and terror,
The dragon known to many, the dragon guarding treasure,
And dragon's eye and dragon's ear and dragon's claw are sharp,
In many a dragon tale told to accompaniment of harp.

I'll tell you of the dragon's eye, with its dragonspell,
I'll tell you of the dragon's ear, and dragon's claw as well,
I'll just make mention of the dragon's breath, of which you have been warned,
A fire so fierce and terrible: the atomic age has dawned.

Dragon'e eye, dragonspell, doth now hypnotize,
Feeding all that fear within the viewers' eyes,
With cries upon cries upon cries upon cries,
Of rape and torture and damned damned lies.

The dragonspell is working, the viewer's spellbound now,
Caring nought for any man nor any sacred cow,
So long as he can watch, he's being entertained,
He can always switch the channel if his interest wanes.

The dragon's eye is spreading, it's seeing more and more,
On terrace and on high street and in every single store,
Soon a lens to see - will be in every tree,
To watch you, whilst you think you're free.

Dragon's ear is sharp as well, as it can now hear,
All it needeth do is switch the switch and hear the fear,
On telephone, or on computer wire,
The dragon is now listening, and the dragon doth not tire.

For national security and crime it states its case,
As it puts its wires and taps all about the place,
To listen in on what you say at any given time,
To check on you and corner you and then make up the crime.

And woe betide you if you should fall
Foul of the ones of the dragon's claw.
Be you traveller or miner or simple fool,
To gain dislike of the ones who rule.

And should you think that you're a match,
Dragon's claw shall tear and scratch,
At those who seek a different life,
To that the dragon's mind doth like.

So as they watch and hear and bite,
Do we die or do we fight?
So as you watch and think you're free,
Tear yourself from the spell and See!
