Dad

Dad,
Should I even call you dad?

You always fulfilled your duties
and made sure our needs were provided for,
yet you were never present when I needed you.

I swore I would provide as you did
and do more then just provide.
I swore I would be sensitive
and provide more than just physical needs.

Now, I have become you
and you have already left this world.

I never had the chance to find out why.
And now I struggle, being you, and unsure how to change.

I hate that you weren't there for me
and now I have no chance to understand why.

Yet, what scares me most is:
I have become you even without knowing you.
