Mary Flowers Parks Poems

Today was dull, tonite I'm dreary
My body tired, my spirit weary.
The phone rings and lo and behold
It's a dear friend from long, long ago.
...

God looked down at his new creation,
The world, and saw that it was good,
The trees and lovely flowers,
The mountains so lofty stood.
...

The world would be a happier place
A place where we would love to be
If only we could think of you
In place of "me","me","me".

One Phone Call

Today was dull, tonite I'm dreary
My body tired, my spirit weary.
The phone rings and lo and behold
It's a dear friend from long, long ago.
A miracle, the stars began to shine
My spirits lifted, the world was mine,
Her voice was soft, so nice and clear,
She always was my friend so dear.
Sometimes just a happy "Hello,"
Can raise spirits that were so low,
I felt again, life was really good,
I started counting my blessings as we all should.
A friend is a very special gift
Always there our spirits to lift,
We too should be a friend to all,
Just try a three-minute telephone call.
