Mary Ramsey Poems

I was wrapped, encased, cocooned, enclosed…
Bejeweled and blossomed.
Radiant with life and light and laughter.
A harlequin.

My heart is as the moon; big, cold, pock-marked and cratered.
A parasitic light in the darkness.
Sometimes bright and blooming - sometimes a scar on the night sky.
Waxing and waning. Fulminate and flagrant - dismal and dim.

I was wrapped, encased, cocooned, enclosed…
Bejeweled and blossomed.
Radiant with life and light and laughter.
A harlequin.
A broken light.
Multicolored as the sweetness ran through my veins.
I was warm
And cool
And crisp
And succulent.
I was all…and All were in me.
I wasn't alive.
I was LIFE.
And then came the Fall…
And the Falling…
And the Fallacy of Pride.
Then came the shedding.
And the dying.
And the shivering wind.
And now I stand here empty, shaking in my wooden bones.
Bare.
Stripped.
Naked.
For all the world to see.
Do not pity me, it will not add another hour to my day.
See my strength.
What I was.
The foundation of What I Will Be.
See me.
